Nicole Richie branches out into womenswear with Winter Kate

As well as showing off her new baby son, Sparrow (named after Captain Jack Sparrow apparently) Nicole Richie is building quite the little fashion empire - she is now adding a women's clothing label to her repertoire.

After launching her accessories line, House of Harlow which will soon include shoes, and a maternity wear range, A Pea in a Pod, Richie is now turning her hand to her first womenswear label, Winter Kate.

Named after her daughter's two middle names, the collection will feature vintage-inspired tops, vests and bed jackets all with Richie's bohemian flair. There are also silk and chiffon frocks, tunics, and a kimono-style maxidress.

Kyoko Uchida announces she's pregnant

Fuji TV announcer Kyoko Uchida, 33, announced Wednesday that she is pregnant and will give birth next spring. In January 2006, Uchida became engaged to Kimitoshi Kimoto, 36, a Yoshimoto Kogyo employee and manager of Down Town’s Masatoshi Hamada, 46.

In March of the same year, she retired from Fuji TV, and held a wedding reception in July. Since that time she has been active on TV programs, in commericals and at various events as an emcee.

Last month, she left her post as MC on the Fuji TV variety show “Gout Temps Nouveau.” Rumors flew regarding the decision, but a member of the show, Makiko Esumi, 42, reportedly suspected that Uchida was pregnant.

Japan–U.S. bikini showdown as Playboy’s Michelle McLaughlin flies in to Tokyo

Playboy’s Miss February 2008 Michelle McLaughlin, 23, showed her form at an event in Tokyo this week to promote the Playboy Channel on SKY PerfecTV! The Californian beauty wore an aqua bikini that made it quite clear why she was chosen as Playboy’s Playmate of the Month in February last year.

She was joined by Channel Ruby star Yuzuka Kinoshita, 21, who was determined not to be outshone by her American rival. The voluptuous duo frolicked about on stage but McLaughlin had a little trouble getting up in her high heels after they spent some time posing for shots on the floor.

McLaughlin, a fan of the San Francisco Giants in Major League Baseball, said she also likes the Yomiuri Giants in Tokyo. When asked if she liked Japanese men, she said: “I like their dark hair, but they have to be handsome.”

The Playboy Channel (channel 900) costs 2,625 yen per month or 735 yen per day (from 7 a.m. to 7 a.m. the following day.)

Mischa Barton on ‘Beautiful Life’ cancellation: The best was yet to come

NEW YORK, New York -- Mischa Barton’s “The Beautiful Life” may have been short-lived, but the actress said the canceled CW series showed a lot of promise. In fact, she says, the best was yet to come.

“We were really such a great show and the first two episodes were nothing. We shot amazing, big episodes – episodes four, five and six – and it’s stuff that no one will ever see,” she told Access Hollywood at Monday night’s Whitney Museum gala in New York City.

“But they were unable to bring in an audience to it. It’s like they’ve got two other franchises going on there at the same time, and we got swallowed up,” she added of The CW. “It’s more their loss, I think. It could’ve been I think a really, really cool show.”

And while the show may not have survived very long, Mischa said she was appreciative of the fans who hopped on board the “Beautiful” bandwagon while they could.

“It was really sweet after [the show was canceled] because all these people Twittered the next day, like 10,000 people Twittered trying to save the show and stuff,” Mischa continued. “It reminded me how important the core fan base is. Whatever bulls**t gets written, you know you’ve got fans out there who care.”

As for Mischa herself, who said she is “moving on” and looking at various film and TV scripts, following the series’ cancellation, she is enjoying adjusting to life spent on the East Coast.

“I’m loving it!” she said of staying in New York. “All my girlfriends live here, so it’s nice to be bi-coastal and just go back and forth. I’m not giving up on Los Angeles, of course, but you know.”

Paris Hilton's birthday surprise

Paris Hilton wore a sexy hot pink outfit and a black diamond mask as she burst out of a giant cake for her boyfriend Doug Reinhardt's birthday.

The blonde socialite threw the surprise party for Doug Reinhardt at her Beverly Hills mansion on Saturday (17.10.09) and wore a sexy hot pink outfit and a black diamond mask as she burst out of the giant-sized sweet treat.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Paris went all out for her man's birthday. No expense was spared. He had no idea about the party and was so happy."

Paris was so keen to impress 'The Hills' star - who she reunited with in the summer when he whisked her away on a romantic break to Fiji - she organised for rap group Three 6 Mafia and hip-hop star Ya Boy to perform for partygoers.

Guests including Hollywood beauties Hayden Panettiere and Kristanna Loken, partied until 3am at the nightclub Paris has built in her home, while home videos of the couple were screened throughout the mansion.

Doug is not the only star to be presented with a giant cake on his birthday.

When Hollywood actress Katie Holmes turned 30 last December, her husband Tom Cruise surprised her with an enormous five-tiered sponge.

Kourtney Kardashian burgled

Pregnant socialite Kourtney Kardashian lost thousands of dollars worth of jewellery when her California home was burgled on Saturday (17.10.09).

Kourtney Kardashian's California home has been burgled.

The socialite - who is pregnant with her first child - reportedly returned to her townhouse in Calabasas at 8.30pm on Saturday (17.10.09) with her boyfriend Scott Disick to discover the building had been broken into and jewellery worth thousands of dollars was missing.

According to gossip website TMZ, Police have confirmed the 30-year-old beauty is missing a Cartier watch worth $30,000, Scott's expensive Rolex timekeeper and several diamond-encrusted accessories, including hoop earrings.

It is believed some vintage jewellery items given to her by her late father Robert Kardashian - who died of cancer in September 2003, aged just 59 - have also been taken from her home, which is part of a gated community.

It is reported Kourtney and Scott left the building at 7pm to go out for dinner.

When they returned shortly afterwards, they apparently grew suspicious after noticing several drawers had been left open.

Kourtney is due to give birth to a son in December.
